Spring Break Days 1-4

We finally got to take the girls to Disneyland. It was well worth the wait and we all had a great time.
Day 1: We woke up really early to hit the road. We expected the girls to go back to sleep, but of course they didn't. We drove from home to Las Vegas. It was about a 13 hour drive.
We stopped at In-n-Out in St. George UT. The girls were not impressed. Kayla said it just tasted like any old hamburger. In Vegas Joe tried his luck on the slot machines. He lost $10. That is why Joe doesn't gamble. :-)

Day 2-On Sunday we woke up and drove to CA and we met Danny for lunch at Vince's Spaghetti. It was good to get a chance to see him and eat where Grandma L. used to take us all of the time. The food was not as good as I remember but it was fun.
After lunch we went and saw Uncle Jeddie and Aunt Delcie. Derek and his family showed up too.
After that we headed down to Garden Grove and checked into our hotel.
Day 3 - The girls the morning we went to Disneyland. They were so excited!
Minnie Mouse was the only character we took the time to meet. The girls were a little shy and didn't really care to get close to any of them. That was just fine with us because it saved us a lot of time. The line to see Rapunzel had a wait for over an hour. Tinker Bell was even longer. Definitely not worth it.
In Minnie's house.
We had to get a Mickey shaped pretzel for a snack.
Aly driving on Autopia. I think I have a case of whiplash now.
Kayla in the drivers seat.

Captain EO - The best show at Disneyland!
Tea Cups

Carousel

Waiting to get on Matterhorn, her favorite ride.
Instead of the light parade, Disneyland has Fantasmic. Is was awesome! They had fireworks, lasers, music, character's dancing. It was such a fun show.

Day 4- California Adventure
We rode every ride at the park that the girls could. (The roller coaster was the only one that we couldn't do.) Aly even went on the Tower of Terror ride. She loved it!

Kayla was being silly while we waited in line.

Adventures has a show called 'World of Color.' We were able to get fast passes that allowed us to sit up pretty close. The whole show was with water, lasers, projection, and music. It was another amazing show. We even got a little wet. I couldn't get any good pictures of it but during the show the Mickey Mouse Ferris Wheel was changing colors with the music.

Spring Break Day 5-7

Day 5: We went back to Disneyland to hit up all of the rides that we had missed the first day.

The first ride - Space Mountain. To talk it up so Aly was excited and not scare we had told her it was the BEST ride at Disneyland. When we got off she said, "THAT was the best ride at Disneyland?" She wasn't too impressed. I remember it being a lot more exciting when I was younger.
After Space Mountain we let the girls choose what their favorite ride had been and we took them on it for the 2nd time. Kayla loved Matterhorn, so while Joe took her there I took Aly to the Teacups again.
Snow Whites Scary Adventure (I guess our girls are brave because they didn't think it was scary at all.)
Classic castle picture. Can you tell Aly wasn't too excited about having her picture taken?
Aly couldn't go on Indiana Jones so while Joe and Kayla went we hung out in Tarzan's tree house.
Elephants on the River Boat ride.
Mark Twain River Boat (Again with the not wanting a picture taken)
There was baby ducks all over the park.
After the River Boat, we got on the train and took it around to get onto the Monorail. We took the Monorail out of the park (we were all starting to get bored by this point) and we went to Downtown Disney. The girls got to pick out their souvenirs and then we went back to the hotel and ordered a pizza and just hung out for the rest of the night.

Day 6- We went to Newport Pier. It was a perfect day for the beach. It wasn't crowded at all, the water was warm enough to go in, and there was no wind blowing. The girls LOVED the beach. We probably could have stayed there all day and they'd be content.

Don't laugh at our whiteness. We're from Colorado for goodness sake! :-)
(While I'm writing this it is snowing outside.)

After the beach we loaded up and drove back to Las Vegas. We went to the Rain Forest Cafe for dinner.

Then we went to the M&M Store and watched the 3D M&M movie.
By the time we got to the hotel, the girls we worn out and went to sleep. I went and tried my luck on the slot machines. I spent $10 and lost it all! There's a reason why I don't gamble. :-)

Day 7- A LOONNNNNGGGG drive back home. We had a great time and once we got home we realized that nothing went wrong the entire trip. No car trouble, no melt down, no one got sick (except for my cold) and everything went as planned.

Now, where to go next year........

Kayla's Room and Other Projects

Kayla's room is finally finished!

We've been looking for a desk for her with drawers since she has lots of drawing stuff. We couldn't find anything that we wanted but she has always told me she wanted my (or should I say Grandma's) vanity. It works perfect for a desk.

She did her own artwork for the walls.

I re-stained the coffee table that Dad built for us 8 years ago. Now it matches the piano and it makes our living room look much better.

My red kitchen!!!!
I love it!!!!

The rest of the kitchen is still white but in the near future I plan on painting the rest of it (and into the family room) a caramel color. If you look closely you can see the color swatch on my magnet board.
