Spring Break Day 5-7

Day 5: We went back to Disneyland to hit up all of the rides that we had missed the first day.

The first ride - Space Mountain. To talk it up so Aly was excited and not scare we had told her it was the BEST ride at Disneyland. When we got off she said, "THAT was the best ride at Disneyland?" She wasn't too impressed. I remember it being a lot more exciting when I was younger.
After Space Mountain we let the girls choose what their favorite ride had been and we took them on it for the 2nd time. Kayla loved Matterhorn, so while Joe took her there I took Aly to the Teacups again.
Snow Whites Scary Adventure (I guess our girls are brave because they didn't think it was scary at all.)
Classic castle picture. Can you tell Aly wasn't too excited about having her picture taken?
Aly couldn't go on Indiana Jones so while Joe and Kayla went we hung out in Tarzan's tree house.
Elephants on the River Boat ride.
Mark Twain River Boat (Again with the not wanting a picture taken)
There was baby ducks all over the park.
After the River Boat, we got on the train and took it around to get onto the Monorail. We took the Monorail out of the park (we were all starting to get bored by this point) and we went to Downtown Disney. The girls got to pick out their souvenirs and then we went back to the hotel and ordered a pizza and just hung out for the rest of the night.

Day 6- We went to Newport Pier. It was a perfect day for the beach. It wasn't crowded at all, the water was warm enough to go in, and there was no wind blowing. The girls LOVED the beach. We probably could have stayed there all day and they'd be content.

Don't laugh at our whiteness. We're from Colorado for goodness sake! :-)
(While I'm writing this it is snowing outside.)

After the beach we loaded up and drove back to Las Vegas. We went to the Rain Forest Cafe for dinner.

Then we went to the M&M Store and watched the 3D M&M movie.
By the time we got to the hotel, the girls we worn out and went to sleep. I went and tried my luck on the slot machines. I spent $10 and lost it all! There's a reason why I don't gamble. :-)

Day 7- A LOONNNNNGGGG drive back home. We had a great time and once we got home we realized that nothing went wrong the entire trip. No car trouble, no melt down, no one got sick (except for my cold) and everything went as planned.

Now, where to go next year........

Kayla's Room and Other Projects

Kayla's room is finally finished!

We've been looking for a desk for her with drawers since she has lots of drawing stuff. We couldn't find anything that we wanted but she has always told me she wanted my (or should I say Grandma's) vanity. It works perfect for a desk.

She did her own artwork for the walls.

I re-stained the coffee table that Dad built for us 8 years ago. Now it matches the piano and it makes our living room look much better.

My red kitchen!!!!
I love it!!!!

The rest of the kitchen is still white but in the near future I plan on painting the rest of it (and into the family room) a caramel color. If you look closely you can see the color swatch on my magnet board.

Lots of Projects

I finally got this darn thing to work with me! I'm trying to do some catch up. I am always working on some project. I finished Aly's room in July. Here are some views of her room.

When I was in Junior High, Greg helped me build this shelf. It never got finished. I have been using it for shoes forever. Aly needed something for her room so I decided to do something with it. I burned the flowers in it and then stained it to match the rest of her furniture. I also put a back on it so things wouldn't fall through.

I'm just about finished with Kayla's room and am about to start the kitchen so more pictures will come soon.

Crazy Family

Remember this post 4 years ago?

Our dryer had broken down and Joe had to take it apart to fix it.

Well, last week our washer broke so Joe took it apart to fix it.

What can I say?
We like to spend our free time playing in our appliances!

Soccer

Soccer season has come to an end. Kayla ended up being pretty good. For their last game we promised Kayla if she scored a goal we'd take her for ice cream. She scored the second goal of the game. Their team won 9-0. She was pretty excited about it. Aly got pretty bored at the games, thus the silly pictures of her. :-)

Halloween

Here's the girls in their Halloween costumes.
They both had class parties at school and then we went to our wards Trunk-or-Treat. It was fun, but I'm glad it's over. I'm not really that into Halloween. When are kids too old to stop dressing up? :-)

WAY to long!

I've decided that it's time to update my blog. It's been almost two months. It's not like I've been busy at all though. Moving, birthdays, vacations, visitors, swim lessons, etc., etc., etc. I guess I should just start from the last time I posted.

First of all we bought our first home. The move was a lot of hard work but it was definitely worth it. Now that I've got everything unpacked and put away I've started to paint and decorate. I'll post pictures of the rooms as I finish them. The only room that I've finished so far is the playroom. We chose to paint it Mystical Sea. It's a light mint green color. You might need to click on the picture and make it bigger to be able to see the color. I finished painting Aly's room too but I haven't gotten any decorations put up yet.

Kayla and Aly both had birthdays. For some reason I can't find the pictures from Kayla's birthday. We bought a new camera and with all the switching around with memory cards and what not I don't remember where I saved them. Anyway, we let the girls decide what we do for their birthdays.

For Kayla's birthday she decided that she wanted to go practice riding her bike at the park. Then we went and saw 'How to Train Your Dragon." We all loved it. It will definitely be one to buy. After the movie we went to PF Changs. Kayla loves Chinese food. We came home and she opened her gifts and then she spent the afternoon playing with her new things.

For Aly's birthday she decided she wanted to sleep in a tent in the playroom. So the night before we set up our small tent and the girls had a slumber party.

The next day we went and saw Toy Story 3 in 3D. The movie was good, but paying for the 3D was a waste. Aly didn't keep her glasses on, Joe can't see in 3D, and I just got a head ache from it.

Aly got a Woody doll from Grandma Stradling. She's been talking about wanting one for her birthday for a really long time and she finally got it!

Her birthday cupcake with pink cake and yellow frosting. Just as she ordered.

All tuckered out at the end of the day. Yes, she insisted on sleeping in her sleeping bag again.
